I offer hypnotherapy programmes to help with each stage of the experience of waiting for a child to enter life. These programmes share certain features but are highly individualised. I work with individual couples and women to offer directed therapy in order to achieve the goals that you want. I don't offer large classes, this is a truly individual programme to address YOUR needs and wishes.

Hypnosis for fertility, pregnancy and childbirth is my area of specialism. It is a source of great satisfaction to help a couple achieve a pregnancy, support a woman during an anxious pregnancy and give her the tools to experience calm, comfortable childbirth. It is something I can do that really adds to someone's life experience and is truly life-changing.

Hypnotherapy can help during the pre-conception stage, during pregnancy, as an aid to comfortable labour and also in the post-natal weeks and months. There are many ways that hypnosis assists women at this time in their lives:

• Relaxation. The state of hypnosis is highly relaxing for the mind and body. In this state the entire body relaxes and so do the blood vessels. This relaxing or dilation of the blood vessels ensures a better blood flow throughout the body and especially to the womb. This is beneficial to conception because the womb lining is then a better environment for a implanting embryo and a growing foetus. During later pregnancy the blood flow is essential to the growth and health of the growing baby.

• Efficient Birth. During labour, blood is diverted to the uterus in order that it can contract efficiently and progress labour smoothly and swiftly. Post-natally a better milk supply is encouraged.

• Calm the Emotions. The effect on the mind and emotions is profound. With hypnotherapy a pregnant woman can relieve stress and anxiety. This relief can help with conceiving, assist with a calmer, peaceful and enjoyable pregnancy, help to achieve a calm birthing experience and later calm the emotions during the post-natal period.

• Overcome Fear. There are many emotional factors which trip us all up and are unhelpful to the daily living of our lives. I work with people all the time to help them live more peaceful lives, untroubled by past experiences and fears. Emotions and fears can run very high during pregnancy and many women feel rather sensitive at this time. Hypnotherapy is very gentle and I can help you to overcome fears and worries that are holding you back and go forward with enjoyment.

The emotional factors hindering conception are well known and hypnosis can play a huge part in helping a couple to become pregnant. Even those who have been told that they need medical help have achieved pregnancy after hypnotherapy alone.

Where IVF is needed to achieve a pregnancy, hypnosis is an excellent complementary therapy:

The use of hypnosis during embryo transfer doubles the IVF/ET outcome in terms of increased implantation and clinical pregnancy rates. Furthermore it seems the patients attitude to treatment was more favourable.
